WHAT IS UMRA?
As a fiqh term; It is a type of worship performed in the form of going out of ihram by shaving his hair after performing sa’y between the hills of Safa and Marwa, by entering the ihram at the miqat, circumambulating the Kaaba duly, regardless of a certain time.
The Prophet described it as “Umrah is a small pilgrimage” because of its many rewards. In another hadith, he said, “Umrah is expiation for the sins committed between the two of them until the next Umrah…” In another hadith, he said, “Umrah in Ramadan is considered a complete pilgrimage or replaces a pilgrimage done with me.” Again, our master the Messenger of Allah; “The pilgrims and those who perform Umrah are the messengers of Allah. If they pray, their prayers are accepted, and if they repent, they are forgiven.” Pointing out the great gains of Muslims who perform this worship by commanding, he encouraged all believers to perform these worships.
It is muakkad (strong) sunnah according to the Hanafi sect, and obligatory according to the Shafi sect, for every Muslim who can afford it, once in his lifetime.
There is no specific time to perform Umrah. It can be done at any time except for five days a year, including the days of Arafah and the feast of sacrifice following it.
The difference between umrah and pilgrimage is that although the pilgrimage can be done on certain days of the Dhu al-Hijjah month of the year, Umrah can be performed at any time. In addition, there are no Arafat and Muzdalifah foundations in Umrah, and there are no sacrifices and stoning of the devil.
A Muslim who goes to hajj and umrah will be grateful for the blessings of the world, such as physical health and wealth of wealth, given to him by Allah. The fact that those who go to the holy lands are white and in the same type of ihram, regardless of color, race or profession, helps to establish the idea of equality. At the same time, it is a worship with universal dimensions, as it leads to the development of feelings of meeting, rapprochement, unity and solidarity, cooperation and brotherhood among the Muslims of the world.
